No more faking it till you make it. Let’s do courage instead.
You know what term I want to ban? “Fake it till you make it.”
We really don’t need more “fake” in the world. What we need is more courage. The courage to show up as we are and, as Brené Brown says, “let ourselves be seen.”
This can be wildly uncomfortable. We take risks without knowing the outcome, embrace vulnerability, and open ourselves up to growth-through-discomfort.
I had the opportunity to talk about courage on the Fulfilling Career, Happy Life podcast this week. Host Randi Roberts and I discussed how courage can move us to new levels of depth and expansion in our careers.
In this 30-minute conversation, you’ll hear:
The Impact of Early Experiences on Courage: Reflecting on and challenging old stories and belief systems is crucial for overcoming self-imposed limitations and stepping into a more confident and authentic version of oneself.
How Creating Structure can Cultivate Courage: Creating clear structure while allowing flexibility within that framework provides a foundation for confidence.
Why Facing Fears is Critical: It takes a huge amount of courage to sit still and ask yourself the question, “Is this really what I want? Is this really working?”
Happy Couraging!
