Quarterly Reflection š
Well itās suddenly autumn here on the farm where I live. The equinox woke up and said ācold, dark mornings and crisp sunny afternoons - go!ā Iām here for it. This is the time when the weather in the PNW makes people want to move here. (But donāt blink - by the end of this month, weāll be in rain until Mayā¦ or Juneā¦ and everyone will wonder why we donāt live in San Diego instead.)
By the next time I post a Quarterly Update email, we will have gotten through this election cycle (votevotevotevotevote) and weāll be heading into the wintery months of going inward to rest and restore.
The cycles of nature that we, as humans, are supposed to pay attention to but usually donāt have never been more obvious to me than the last few years living not-in-a-city. And I observe my own cycles more actively now. The ones where I am out and visible and building community through events or productions, the ones when I need to reflect inwardly, and the ones when I am in planning mode. When the seed is germinating and starting to sprout, peeking its leaves out of the damp, fertile soil.
Iāve been in a period of inward reflection since - gee, about March 13, 2020. And while Iāve been creating lots of content and certainly havenāt been quiet around the internets, I havenāt felt very āexternal.ā
But thatās been shifting. Iāve felt a lot of the little seeds I planted (some of which got put in the soil decades ago) starting to sprout, reaching up towards the light and warmth and looking around to see: who else is here?
Iām not quite ready to spill the beans on the project Iāve been working on for the past few months, but when I do, I think youāll agree that being fallow and quiet is some of the most productive work creatives can do.
Happy autumn!

ps. I recently gave a glow-up to one of my online courses How to be a Successful Podcast Guest. Itās less than an hour of videos that can really change the game for the success of your communication.
pps. Iām still working 1:1 with clients as I build out this new secret project. Always reach out if you need a few sessions to strengthen your ātalking out loud in front of other peopleā skills.
